I should mention again that when doing web searches, appending your search string with "-ai" stops the search engine (the big G, at least) from defaulting to AI answers at the top of your results. Like Will Christopher Baer says, "Choke the machine."

Also worth mentioning: currently reading Cory Doctorow's "The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI" and I'd recommend y'all do likewise. Doctorow has a far more balanced view of AI than I do (I'm on the extreme Nope end of the spectrum, if y'all hadn't guessed); though I disagree with some of his conclusions, he's the only writer on this subject who's forced me to reconsider my position (for the record, it's still a book-scraping, plagiarism machine that's destroying the environment and making every creative person a suspect), chiefly because he's included insights into the business and economic realities of AI, which cannot be understated (see my previous post, "Bladerunner Didn't Have Spam" for my thoughts on how we ignore the economics of big tech at our peril).

Wow, what a cool idea. I hope Christopher Nolan really does make a film called The Odyssey some day!

For giggles I asked Copilot this: "You know about the new Odyssey movie right?"

And it let me have it for calling it just a movie:

"Absolutely — Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is not just “a new movie,” it’s the cinematic event of 2026."

Interesting how it changes answers depending on the phrasing or even on different devices used. I'm curious what happens if you ask it for a cast list.

It actually included the cast list (unprompted) sourced from Wikipedia, which as you know certainly counts as a reliable information source. 😂

“It stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, with a stacked ensemble: Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Samantha Morton, Mia Goth, and more.”

Genius. I hope this goes viral. PS you got 9% human. A bit stingy if you ask me.

One must imagine Clevenger Happy. Especially after the horrorshow box I sent you.

I see what you did there.

Thank you for your minority report.

Plausible but with a dash of insanity and a dollop of existential threat

This is the sort of tech being plugged into the pentagon.

how about a nice. game. of chess.

hilarious except that nobody can turn it off now and our natural resources are being drained to make more and more of it.

No problem. Clevenger took on AI and had his ass handed to him. It was glorious. I mean, really stellar.
